2016 | 前言 |亲近城市及居住在城市里的人

城区,是指城市中人口、机构、经济、文化高度集中的区域。城市中的精彩与人的活动在此交织得尤为紧密。

深圳国际城区影像节(IUIF)自2014年举办以来,一直坚持以亲近城市及居住在城市里的人为目标。它通过把展览植入城市的社区、公园、图书馆、书店、校园、办公楼、美术馆等场景,在公众与文化景观之间建立有机的链接和互动。

2014年,它以国际化城区建设文化先行的方式启动,并把视线集中到了深圳城中村改造的先行者——水围村,以国际视野和本土文化碰撞的方式赞美城市;

2015年,它在中心公园等五个城市核心区域,以有别于传统美术馆的方式构建艺术场域,通过十多场展览和艺术活动记录时代,引起广泛的专业关注;

2016年,它以“我是他者”为主题,在约一个月的时间里,带来28场艺术展及“我是他者”主题研讨会:把「马格南底稿:摄影名作背后」带到深圳大学,把「美国国家地理百年经典作品展」带到中心公园的自然中,加上荷赛多媒体单元的中国首展、与波兰国家电影博物馆的合作等,这些首次被引入国内的顶级展览,在城区公共空间中与孩子、老人、学生、上班族等共同完成了一次无障碍的文化交融,甚至还吸引了很多从外地慕名而来的观众。

在亲近之外,国际城区影像节又是特立独行的。它更像一个艺术节,只不过披着影像的外套;它关注的不只是照片和视频,它还关注着所有新鲜、有趣的视觉形式和实验。

因此,它从不以单一形式出现:照片、电影、装置、动画、新媒体艺术,乃至音乐、舞蹈、行为艺术,都是它亲近和感染观众的方式。

去年,构建在中心公园和水围文化广场上的两座大型艺术装置作品——「格致」,融合现代舞、先锋音乐为观众带来崭新的视听冲击;今年,被观众称为“深圳之眼”的装置作品「天圆」,又在结构上营造出全新的观展方式。

因为诞生于深圳这座以“活力” 、“创新” 、“包容”为标签的年轻城市,国际城区影像节同样以极大的好奇心,关注着本土创作和中国影像环境的每一点改变。它以这座快速运转的城市为切片,审视城区这一概念下每个个体的表达方式与相互影响,就像显微镜从表皮纹理深入到毛细血管,观察血液的流动。

它发起的「家人与我」影像计划,让每个人都能成为拍摄者和参与者,讲述与家人的温情脉脉;「执嘢——鰲湖映像」关注深莞交界之地一座有着百年历史的客家古村,让居住当地的艺术家们以影像、装置、行为、大地艺术及作品文献等形式,呈现经济浪潮冲击下,古村的本来面貌;「场域的毛细管——2016珠三角艺术单位观察展」,则集合了粤港澳九家艺术单位对“艺术介入社会”的思考。

同时,国际城区影像节又以联系粤港澳三地、拓宽影像艺术的学术边界为己任,与中国新闻与纪实摄影研究中心、波兰密茨凯维奇学院、深圳大学、中山大学、广州美术学院、浸会大学、澳门大学等众多高等院校和机构形成合作与学术支持。

今年的「观看的诡计——中国影像艺术家专题展」,邀请十三位国内活跃的实验摄影影像艺术家以作品对话,提出新技术的发展使观看日益成为视觉艺术中心的观点,讨论摄影的核心已无涉客观性或图像本身;“我是他者”主题研讨会更邀请多位学者和艺术家深入探讨了“自我”与“他者”的关系,使展览得以在现场之外获得持续的学术效应。

与深圳一样,只走过三届的国际城区影像节仍然年轻,但它却有着成熟的冷静。它并不通过影像的狂欢来刺激观看的欲望,而是一直坚持独立的运营方式,以保持纯净的视野,不受限地在新的维度上探索和呈现影像的丰富可能性。

这种坚持并非执拗,反使它更受尊重与认可:「遇见马克·吕布」受华润邀请走入更开放的万象城继续展出、「观看的诡计」被21空间美术馆等多个场馆邀请巡展、「马格南底稿」也收到多个国家级场馆的邀请……

最后,国际城区影像节为您呈现这本年鉴,记录它完成的又一次蜕变,以及它参与塑造的城市精神。

Urban area refers to the district, which highly concentrates the population, the institution, the economy and the culture of the city. In here, the wonderful things of the city interweave with the citizens’ activities more closely.

Shenzhen International Urban Images Festival (IUIF) always adheres to the goal being on intimate terms with the city and its citizens since the first time in 2014. By letting the exhibitions be held in the communities, the parks, the libraries, the bookshops, the schools, the office buildings and the galleries, it builds an organic link and interaction between the public and the cultural landscape.

 

In 2014, the IUIF had launched officially by giving priority to international urban constructed culture, and focusing on the pioneer of Shenzhen urban village- Shuiweicun. It praised the city in the way of the collision between the international vision and local culture.

In 2015, the IUIF recorded the age through a dozen of exhibitions and artistic activities in five core city areas, including Shenzhen Central Park, and it increased extensive professional attention.

In 2016, the IUIF started with the theme of “JE est un autre ”, and in about one month, hold 28 artistic exhibitions and “JE est un autre ” theme of seminar: bringing " Magnum Contact Sheets Exhibition" to Shenzhen University, “A Century of the American National Geographic Exhibition” exhibition to the natural environment of Shenzhen Central Park, the first multimedia exhibition of “The World Press Photo Contest” to China and cooperating with Poland National Film Museum. These top exhibitions brought firstly to China, had completed a non-obstruction cultural mix together with children, old people, students and office workers and even attracted many viewers from other cities.

 

Although IUIF seems to be filled with images about motion pictures and photographs, in its deep side it is more like an artistic festival. It not only pays attention to pictures and videos, but also all of new and interesting visual form and experiment.

Therefore, it is never shown in a single form: photos, films, installations, animations, new media arts, music, dance, even performance art, which are its ways to close and infect audiences.

Last year, two large installations -“Ge Zhi” in the Shenzhen Center Park and Shuiwei Cultural Square integrated modern dance and avant-garde music and brought new audio-visual impact to the viewers. This year, the installation “Tian Yuan”, also called “The Eye of Shenzhen” by the viewers, creating a total new way in structure to enjoy the exhibition.

Born in Shenzhen, which is a young city with the label of “energy”, “creation”, and “inclusion”, IUIF has a great curiosity to pay an attention to the every change of local creation and the environment of Chinese images. It regards this fast-running city as a slice, to look at the expression and interaction of every individual in the concept of urban, just like under the microscope watching the flow of blood through the texture of skin and blood capillary.

It launched the image projects: Family and Me having everyone become photographers and participants, and expressing the tender feelings about families; Pick up——Image of Aohu Village, focusing on the Hakka village established over a century ago at the junction of Shenzhen and Dongguan and trying to show what the village really is under the impact of economic waves through the images, installation, performance art, earth art, literature and etc. created by local artists; “Capillaries of the Field—2016 Exhibition of Art Institutions from the Pearl River Delta” collecting the result about the thinking of “art intervenes in society” from nine art units in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

At the same time, IUIF takes it as its own duty to build up the connection and broaden the academic borders of art among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. And it also cooperates and obtains the academic support from universities and institutions, including: China Dominant-journalism and Documentary Photography Development Center, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Shenzhen University, Sun Yat-sen University, The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, University of Macau and so on.

This year The Trick of Seeing—A Thematic Exhibition of Chinese Video and Photographic Artists invited 13 active video-photographic artists to dialogue in their works. It made a point that the development of new technology had the seeing become the center of visual art day by day, and discussed that the core of photography hadn’t concern the objectivity or the images themselves. "JE est un autre " theme of seminar invited many other scholars and artists to deeply explore the relation between “je(ego)” and “autre(the other)” and made the exhibition continue obtaining the academic effect beyond the scene.

 

Although IUIF is still young like Shenzhen by just being held three terms, it has its own mature calmness. It does not stimulate the desire of seeing through image of carnival, but explores and demonstrates unlimitedly the rich possibilities of images in a new dimension by sticking to the independent management in pure vision.

Its persistence is not stubborn and makes it be respected and recognized: Come Across Marc Riboud is invited to keep on showing in The MIXC Shenzhen, Trick Of Seeing tours in 21 Space Art Museum, Magnum Contact Sheets also receives the invitations from many national exhibition venues…

Finally, section International Urban Image Festival for you to present this yearbook, record its complete metamorphosis again, and it involved in shaping the city spirit.

Eventually, IUIF presents you this yearbook documenting its another completed transformation and the city spirit it involves and shapes.
